Setting up Discord alerts

Rebetchi can post your server's alerts into a Discord channel, so your group hears about a crash or a failed backup without anyone sitting on the panel. It works through a Discord webhook — a URL that lets Rebetchi post a message into one channel you choose. This article covers creating that webhook in Discord, pasting it into Rebetchi Manage, what gets posted, and how to turn it off.

You need to be the owner of the server to set this up, and you need the Manage Server permission in the Discord server the alerts should land in.

1. Create a webhook in Discord

A webhook belongs to one channel, so pick the channel you want alerts to appear in first. Then:

1. In Discord, open Server Settings — click the server name at the top left and choose it from the dropdown.
2. Choose Integrations.
3. Under Webhooks, select New Webhook. Discord creates one and opens it.
4. Give it a name — "Rebetchi" is a good one — and under Channel choose where the alerts should post.
5. Select Copy Webhook URL.

The URL is a secret. Anyone who has it can post into that channel as your webhook, so treat it like a password and do not share it. If it ever leaks, delete the webhook on this same screen and create a new one.

2. Paste it into Rebetchi

1. Sign in at manage.rebetchi.com and pick your server.
2. Choose Community in the sidebar.
3. Find the Discord alerts card — it appears only for the server's owner.
4. Paste the URL you copied into the Webhook URL field and select Connect.

Rebetchi checks that the URL is a real Discord webhook, saves it, and the card's badge turns to Connected. From then on the card shows only a masked version of the URL — the secret half is never displayed again, which is why replacing it means pasting a fresh URL rather than editing the old one.

3. What gets posted

The channel is for things going wrong with the server itself. Rebetchi posts a short, one-line message when:

• your server crashes or stops unexpectedly, and
• a backup fails.

That is the whole list for now. Each alert is a single line naming the server and what happened — enough for someone reading the channel to know to look, not a full report.

Billing is deliberately never posted here. A payment problem is the owner's business and goes to the owner by email; a Discord channel is a room the whole group can read, not a private inbox, so an unpaid invoice or a card that needs updating never appears in it. 4. Change or remove it

On the Discord alerts card:

• Replace clears the saved URL so you can paste a new one — use this to point alerts at a different channel, or after you have rotated a leaked webhook.
• Disconnect removes the webhook from Rebetchi. Alerts stop immediately and nothing more is posted to the channel.

Disconnecting in Rebetchi does not delete the webhook in Discord. If you want it gone for good, also delete it under Integrations → Webhooks in that Discord server.
